Spice Girls Reunite: Group Together Again, Adding In ‘Latina Spice,’ To Celebrate Beckham Birthday

Nearly all of the Spice Girls reunited over the weekend to help celebrate a big birthday. Victoria Beckham’s husband David Beckham just turned 40, and all of the ladies except Mel B. showed up for some of the fun.

Though the Spice Girls reunion was missing “Scary Spice,” one very familiar face decided to step in and throw “Latina Spice” into the mix for the evening. Eva Longoria dubbed herself the new honorary member of the group for the evening as the other original members mugged for photos.

As People shares, Victoria and David Beckham threw a big bash for his 40th birthday. This was no ordinary party, as the big celebration took place in Marrakech, Morocco. Despite the exotic location, most of the Spice Girls reunited and seemingly had a blast. Joining the Beckhams were “Baby Spice” Emma Bunton, “Sporty Spice” Melanie Chisholm and “Ginger Spice” Geri Halliwell.

This isn’t the first time that people have buzzed about a Spice Girls reunion. Earlier this year, leaked tracks from the group had many wondering if the group was together again and working on new material. Alas, it seems that the tracks that emerged had been recorded by the ladies back in the day and simply hadn’t been shared until now.

Many fans are disappointed that Mel B. wasn’t part of the fun as the Spice Girls reunited. She’s had a tough few months, with rumors swirling not long ago about problems with her marriage. These days things have been more mellow, and E! Online shares that Mel was missing from the party because she’s getting ready for the premiere of America’s Got Talent, which begins a new season on May 26.

For his part, David looked like he had a blast with the Spice Girl reunion, as he joked that it was “great to see these shy and retiring ladies.” Beckham posted a photo with Victoria, Mel, Emma, and Eva on his Instagram during the festivities and he added that there’s never a dull moment with that crew.

Though many fans of the 90s pop group would love to see a real group reunion with new material, it seems the time has passed for that possibility to come together. Though it’s rare to see the five ladies together again in any capacity, David Beckham’s birthday party was definitely a solid effort. While the ladies surely were missing Mel B., it seems that a lot of fun was had during this opportunity for the Spice Girls to reunite.
