Woman Accused Of Cutting Corpse, Smudging Makeup Of Deceased ‘Frenemy’ At Funeral Viewing

A woman from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been accused of cutting the corpse of a deceased “frenemy” during her funeral viewing. Shaynna Smith, who also goes by Shaynna Sims, is said to have cut the body of the deceased woman who previously dated her boyfriend. Shaynna is also accused of smudging the woman’s makeup and cutting her hair at the funeral viewing.

Fox 23 News reports that Tulsa woman Shaynna Smith has been arrested for illegal dissection of a human body. Police were called to Moore Funeral Home Eastlawn location after family members reported that Shaynna had cut the deceased woman’s hair and face, and smudged her makeup, during the open viewing. The report indicates that the deceased woman had previously dated Shaynna’s current boyfriend and that the two were “frenemies.”

The deceased woman’s mother says that during the funeral viewing she looked over and saw Shaynna Smith with her hands in her daughter’s casket. She immediately walked towards the casket and Shaynna removed her hands and left. As Shaynna left the funeral home, the mother noticed her daughter’s face had been cut, along with her hair, and that her makeup was smudged.

However, it seems that Shaynna was not done with the deceased woman just yet. In fact, police arrested Shaynna at the deceased woman’s apartment. She was found in the apartment, sifting through the deceased woman’s belongings. The brother of the deceased allowed Shaynna in after she explained she needed to get a piece of jewelry for the funeral home. He believed her and allowed her to enter the home.

Shaynna’s motives at the apartment are currently unknown. However, in Shaynna’s possession, police found a knife that had traces of hair on it, a box cutter, and makeup on Shaynna’s hands. Police then arrested Shaynna and charged her with illegal dissection of a human body for cutting the corpse without permission. Though an exact motive for the attack on the corpse is unknown. Police note that it likely has to do with the pair’s status as “frenemies,” and that both women had dated the same man in the past.

What type of sentence do you think that Shaynna Smith-Sims should receive for cutting a corpse at a funeral viewing? What do you think her motive was for disturbing the corpse in such a manner, cutting the face and hair, and smudging the makeup? Should additional charges be brought for disturbing the family during their time of grieving and entering the deceased woman’s home on false pretenses?
