Google Will Revamp Search In Next Several Months, Offer Better Answers To Questions

The algorithm experts at Google are preparing to once again change the company’s search functionality, this time focusing on better ways to compete against the likes of Siri and Facebook which provide users with more personally relevant access.

The move to drastically overhaul the Google Search platform comes at a time when Bing.com has managed to grab a bigger portion of Google’s search market share while real-life language concepts are beginning to gain favor among internet users.

According to the Wall Street Journal changes will be implemented over the next few months and those changes will likely change search-result rankings for millions of websites.

The big push for Google is to find new ways to increase advertising opportunities while increase the “time on site” users spend on Google-owned pages.

It’s believed that Google will use its 2010 purchase of Metaweb Technologies to greatly improve search results. Metaweb organizes information into “entities” such as people, places and things rather than simple words and websites.

It’s believed that the new algorithm will allow users to search for a geographical boy and then find a whole range of data about that location alongside related websites for the area such as local chamber of commerce websites and Wikipedia information for the area.

Google’s biggest hope however is that the new algorithm and search system will allow for specific question answering to be performed more precisely.

It’s believed that up to 20% of Google search results could be affected by the new Google search system.

Do you think Google’s new attempt to offer better geographic and answer specific results will benefit the company’s search platform in a positive way?
