The world is waiting to find out the name that Kate Middleton and Prince William pick, though for now, the royal couple is staying tight-lipped about the name for their second child.

Duchess Kate went into labor early on Saturday, welcoming her second child within a few hours afterward. The baby girl immediately attracted giant crowds, with many gathering outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London to see the royal baby’s debut.

The royal family officially announced the birth of the royal baby on Saturday.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am,” a representative from Kensington Palace wrote on the palace’s official Twitter page on Saturday. “The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth… The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed… Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

While the world waits to see what the name is for the royal baby, there had been widespread speculation as to exactly what they would pick.

Many had been guessing about the royal baby’s name, with Alice the most popular pick at the UK’s Coral betting service.

Us Weekly had more details.

“With a 5 to 4 ratio, Alice falls above the famed royal name of Elizabeth, which currently posts odds of 5 to 1. Next on the list is Charlotte at 6 to 1, Victoria at 8 to 1, and Alexandra at 12 to 1. There was some speculation that Prince William, 32, would pay homage to his late mother Princess Di by naming his own daughter Diana, but the name is showing odds of 14 to 1.”

But as Duchess Kate and Prince William departed the hospital, there was still nothing official.

“So the big question that remains is – what will the Princess be called?” the Telegraph noted. “We still don’t know her name, nor do we know when we’ll find out, now that the family is back home at Kensington Palace.”

The royal baby has already met her brother, as Prince William paid a visit with Prince George so the 21-month-old could see his new sister.

The royal baby’s name is expected to be announced shortly, but while the world awaits her name it already does know her title — Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.
