Kirstie Alley Equates Transgender Journey With Insanity, Becomes Trending Topic For Guilty Plea

Kirstie Alley has found herself in the middle of controversy for both her own doing and otherwise. The 64-year-old took to Twitter after Bruce Jenner’s ABC chat with Diane Sawyer aired. Interestingly, the Cheers star seemed opposed to Jenner’s choices, deeming his gender transition “insanity” and far from the brave step that many are applauding Bruce for taking.

The Golden Globe award-winning actress tweeted to her 1.2 million followers in regards to the chat Jenner had with Sawyer, as the Daily Mail reports.

“Trying to find a place for myself midst a world that has mistaken bravery for insanity. Mandela was brave… the rest of this s*** is absurd.”

As noted, many people, including a number of celebrities and the entire Kardashian-Jenner crew, praised Bruce for coming forward and sharing so publicly about his journey to becoming a female. The 65-year-old informed the world that he simply has always felt his brain was more female than male, adding that “Bruce lives a lie. She is not a lie. I can’t do it anymore.”

Alley clearly didn’t hesitate to make her opinion known, even while on a holiday in Rome. However, soon after sending out the post to millions of fans, Kirstie removed it and added a further explanation to clarify her intentions behind the initial comment.

“F***!! Wow! People love to jump to the most absurd conclusions! lol..I’m just here in Italy questioning my OWN bravery..my OWN way to help.”

Nice save, Kirstie! Since the backpedaling incident via Twitter, Alley has found herself in the middle of controversy once more. This time, simply for having a name that was easily alluded to when the New York Times published an article with the headline “Christie Ally Expected to Plead Guilty in New Jersey Bridge Lane Closings.”

The headline was referring to the case an associate of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Christie’s ally who is to “plead guilty” is “David Wildstein, the former director of interstate capital projects at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey,” as Business Insider clarifies.

The wording of the headline, which upon first glance may be mistaken for the name of the well-known actress, caused a load of confusion for readers on Friday morning and led to Ms. Alley once again making her opinion known by way of her go-to social media site, Twitter.

The past week has found the star back in the spotlight and has made her a trending topic online. Perhaps it’s not the most welcome way to gain the attention of the masses.
