Brandon Marshall Accused Of Punching Woman In Manhattan Club

Brandon Marshall was traded to the Chicago Bears from the Miami Dolphins Tuesday, and the deal was instantly declared a steal for the Bears. However, if new allegations regarding the star wide receiver turn out to be true, it might not look like such a dreamy arrangement.

A New York woman has come forward to accuse Marshall, 27, of punching her in a Manhattan nightclub, just days before his switch to Chicago. Bears general manager Phil Emery has confirmed both the Dolphins and Bears were aware of the allegations before Marshall’s move.

Law enforcement sources told the The New York Post that Marshall was involved in an argument with a group of friends celebrating a birthday early Sunday morning.

At roughly 4 a.m., Christin Myles, 24, left an upper floor to greet a friend downstairs. Myles, who was celebrating her birthday, then tried to get back upstairs, but a bouncer said she would have to wait because there was a fight between two football players, apparently Marshall and another athlete.

When Myles met up with friends later, she found them arguing with the NFL star. It was then that Marshall allegedly hit Myles in the face, leaving her with a black eye. Whether he intended to hit Myles, and not one of her friends, is unclear. What is clear is that Myles filed a police report.

A lawyer for Marshall told The Post:

“While attempting to leave to avoid the melee [Marshall’s wife] was struck in the face by a thrown bottle. She suffered serious injury. While attempting to leave and take his wife to the hospital, the mayhem continued outside. Mr. Marshall is hoping to assist authorities in regards to this matter.”

Police have confirmed that Myles’s report names Marshall as perpetrator.

Marshall, who is nicknamed ‘The Beast’ due to his aggressive style of play, has a colorful history with violence and the law. In 2011, he was rushed to a Florida hospital after his wife allegedly stabbed him. He has also been arrested six times, once after being involved in a New Year’s Eve 2006 fight in Denver that would lead to a teammate being fatally shot in a drive-by.
