Brandi Glanville Speaks Out On Kim Richards’ Sobriety And Arrest Incident

Brandi Glanville has spoken out about Kim Richards’ latest struggle with sobriety. On Tuesday, an episode of the “For Crying Out Loud” podcast, featuring Brandi as a guest, was posted. During Brandi’s appearance, which was taped after Kim’s arrest but before her Dr. Phil interview aired, Brandi talked to hosts Lynette and Stefanie about being there for Kim and the right way to help her.

On the podcast, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star pointed out that she has been friends with people who struggle with sobriety before, such as Jennifer Gimenez, a sobriety coach who has made a few appearances on the show. Brandi said that if Jennifer didn’t have her in her life, she wouldn’t be where she is now, eight years sober, and that she would probably be dead now if she hadn’t stuck around.

While some people may think that Brandi Glanville is an enabler, Brandi pointed out that she can’t help Kim Richards until Kim tells her she needs help.

“My thing is, you can’t help somebody that doesn’t want help. And if they say, “I’m fine,” then in their head, they’re fine. And there’s nothing you can do until they say ‘I want to get help. I think I have a problem.’ It’s not anyone’s job to point it out because they’re in denial and they, you know, they just don’t believe it themselves yet. So for me, I never saw her drink, I never saw her do anything. I never saw her do a drug. Did I see odd behavior? I did. But until she says to me, ‘There’s something wrong. I need help,’ it’s not my place to go and say, ‘You have a problem,’ because all that does is make, shut me down to her, she walks away from me and then she has nobody.”

Brandi concluded that “until [Kim] says it herself, that she needs help, [she’s] just her friend, period.”

After the hosts brought up the moment in Season 3 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when Lisa Vanderpump kept pointing out Kim’s odd behavior in Paris, implying that she wasn’t sober, Brandi said that if Lisa was really concerned, she would’ve voiced her concern when the cameras weren’t rolling.

“If you’re concerned you wouldn’t say anything, you would go to her when the cameras weren’t rolling and you’d say, ‘Listen, I’m here for you if you need help.’ And I’ve done that and, as far as, to Kim, to me, she’s never said she has a problem, she’s never asked for help. And around me I feel like… she’s proper around me.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, days after the final part of the Season 5 reunion show aired, Kim was arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge for public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer, and battery on a police officer. On Tuesday, her interview with Dr. Phil, filmed after her arrest, was aired. During the interview, Kim admitted that she drank prior to going to the Polo Lounge and that she “did have a drink a couple other times over the last few months.” She admitted that she was too “ashamed” and “embarrassed” to say the truth at the reunion show.

During her interview with Dr. Phil, Kim still didn’t come clean to the doctor. As reported by All About the Real Housewives, when Kim got frustrated with Dr. Phil and walked off from the interview, three of her children, who were at the interview, followed their mom to persuade her to come back. Behind closed doors, but with the mics still on, Kim’s son, Chad, revealed the truth.

Kim’s son Chad told her, “You haven’t been sober,” to which Kim responded, “Yeah, but Chad. I’m not drinking every day.” After Chad said, “I live with you. I’m not saying you’re drinking, but you’re taking pills. You do this every once in a while, you smoke pot,” Kim replied, “Every once in a while.”

As for whether Brandi Glanville has spoken to Kim Richards, who is currently in rehab, since her arrest, Brandi said that she has but won’t reveal what was said.

“I’ve spoken to her. I told her I wouldn’t talk about it.”
