John Collett’s Mother Hopes Kim Richards Will Quit ‘RHOBH’

John Collett’s mother isn’t convinced reality television is the best place for Kim Richards. In an April 30 interview with Radar Online, Jan Collett spoke out, claiming it may be time for Richards to walk away from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for the sake of her sobriety.

“There are so many wonderful, important things in life. [The show] has so many negative aspects and lots of pressure and it certainly hasn’t helped her.”

On Dr. Phil earlier this week, Richards, who was engaged to John Collett at the time he was murdered, admitted the Bravo series took a toll on her, especially after season five.

Over 20 years ago, John Collett was tragically murdered in Los Angeles shortly before he and Richards, who identified the body, were married. Since then, Richards has continued to struggle within her recovery. On season five especially, the reality star appeared to be fighting demons, and according to her recent interview, relapsed around the time the series wrapped filming.

John Collett’s mother told Radar Online her son would have never been on board with starring on a reality show of any kind, certainly not one that would put unneeded stress on Richards.

“[John Collett] would have thought it was bulls–t. John never would have taken part in it… John loved her and would have picked her up and said, ‘We’re going,’ and gotten her away from people who were going to influence her.”

For years now, John Collett’s mother has watched Richards on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and sees how the show could have led her back to the bottle. According to Jan, it “hurts” her to see Richards struggling so publicly with her alcoholism.

In the past, claimed John Collett’s mom, Richards wasn’t a fan of living her life in the public eye, and often opened up to her would-be mother-in-law regarding the downside of fame.

“She doesn’t like all the s–t around her, notoriety, people pushing her. She wasn’t afraid to talk to me about it. She said ‘Sometimes I wish I could go back and be little again and do it over.’ She had many regrets because she allowed herself not to be herself.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Richards spoke of her late fiance, John Collett, during her Dr. Phil interview, telling the host, “There isn’t a day that goes by I don’t think of him.”
