Kim Richards’ Mother Pressured Her To Marry Rich? [Report]

Kim Richards’ mother, Kathy Dugan, wasn’t painted in the best light in 2006’s House of Hilton. According to an April 29 report by the Daily Mail Online, Dugan was a “dysfunctional” stage mom, who had an array of men in and out of her life throughout Richards’ childhood.

In addition, Kim Richards’ mother, according to the author of the book, Jerry Oppenheimer, was a big drinker, and considered to be a “gold digger,” who demanded her three daughters, Kim, Kathy and Kyle, marry rich.

Speaking to Oppenheimer in the book, former actress Carole Wells Doheny revealed the following of Kim Richards’ mother:

“She was always at one of the good restaurant bars, sitting out front and always seemed to be buzzed. You’d walk in and there she’s be just hanging on the bar and she’d be trying to pick up any guy who had any money and who would pay her tab. I always felt sorry for her because she seemed to try too hard… She would always tell you who she was, and who she was related to.”

In the 1960s, Kim Richards’ mother was having an affair with a married father of two, who eventually got her pregnant. After forcing Kenneth Edwin Richards to quickly divorce his wife and marry her, Dugan gave birth to Kim in September 1964.

Once her second child arrived, Kim Richards’ mother began her career in showbiz, putting Kim in a TV commercial at a very young age, which eventually lead to more roles in Hollywood. Years later, Dugan reportedly encouraged her daughter to date other men as she was involved with Monty Brinson, whose family owned a grocery store chain in the south.

Speaking of his former wife’s behavior, Brinson recalled, “Kim would say she had to go babysit Paris and Nicky and, really, she was being fixed up with John, and I found out about it. She was being influenced to do it. She was being pressured because of the billions of Davis dollars.”

Brison then claimed Kim Richards’ mother was behind her dates with Davis, and said Dugan “was looking for the best for her daughter and those guys [the Davis family] had mega-money.”

Despite their hard times, Brinson and Richards eventually became engaged, but sadly, Brinson’s ring wasn’t up to Kim Richards’ mom’s standards, and Dugan said she wouldn’t allow her to take it, unless it was much larger.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Kim Richards’ mother was discussed during the reality star’s recent interview with Dr. Phil. According to reports, Richards’ sister, Kyle, was also discussed.
