‘RHONJ’ Star Teresa Giudice’s Lawyer Speaks, Says She’s ‘Adjusting Well’ To Life Behind Bars

RHONJ star Teresa Giudice has been incarcerated for nearly four months, and according to her attorney, James J. Leonard Jr., she’s “adjusting well” to life behind bars at Danbury, Connecticut’s Federal Correctional Institution.

On April 29, the RHONJ star’s lawyer told People Magazine details of her prison life.

“She is helping to teach exercise classes. The women take turns leading classes and she has her little group, so once in a while she takes the lead.”

In addition to spending time in the gym with her fellow inmates, the RHONJ star recently got a job cooking, which is perfect for the reality star and author of several cookbooks.

“Teresa has a job working in the kitchen. She told me she enjoys it because it helps her pass the time and allows her to interact with the other inmates. Plus, she loves being in the kitchen, because it reminds her of home.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the RHONJ star was recently accused of being a diva behind bars — are receiving special treatment from staffers. Earlier this month, a source told Radar Online Giudice’s fellow inmates were “fed up” with her “holier than thou” behavior. In the report, a source said Giudice was “absolutely” a diva, and shouldn’t have the job she does, as she only just arrived to the facility.

However, according to the RHONJ star’s lawyer, reports of her diva behavior are completely false.

“She is getting along well with everyone – staff, inmates – all the way down the line.”

Following an indictment on over 40 charges of bank and wire fraud, the RHONJ star and her husband, Joe Giudice, were sentenced to jail time during an October 2014 sentencing hearing. After spending time with her kids during the holidays, Giudice turned herself into the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, for a 15-month prison term. Once her term is complete, husband Joe will begin serving 41 months behind bars.

As for the RHONJ star’s future with Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey, that has yet to be determined. However, because she has long been the show’s unofficial star, she will likely be back on the show eventually. That said, filming will likely begin soon on Season 7, and if it does, she will not yet be a part of it.

The RHONJ star is scheduled to be released from prison on December 23, at which point she will be placed on house arrest until her sentence is finished in February 2016.
