BASE Jumping Off Dubai’s Tallest Building Looks Easy, Beautiful, Yet Terrifying In Viral Video

Ever fancied base jumping off Dubai’s tallest residential tower? You probably haven’t. But a beautiful viral video of base jumpers leaping off the tower and to the ground will help to change your mind.

Skydive Dubai and XDubai have teamed together with DreamJump to advertise the DreamJump System, which allows people to leap from the building, and it does a pretty good job of selling the extreme activity.

Since being uploaded yesterday, the clip above has been watched over 470,000 times. XDubai‘s video describes the experience as one that mixes “fear, adrenaline, laughter, excitement, and joy.”

“What sounds like a nightmare for most is still a dream for others; to BASE jump off the world’s second highest residential structure with the most qualified athletes in the world.”

SkydiveDubai and XDubai worked alongside DreamJump to give limited members of the public the opportunity to leap from the Princess Tower, which is based in the heart of the Dubai Marina.

558 BASE Jumps took place over two weeks, and the video shows that everyone who took part seemed to have an adrenaline filled thrill ride on their way down to terra firma.

The individuals who jumped utilized numerous zip-lines, which included over 10 kilometers of rope, as well as an eight-meter long platform that was 400 meters high in the air, which was on the 99th floor of the building.

Speaking to The National, Nasser Al Neyadi, who is the chairman of Skydive Dubai, stated that the event had been a huge success. “I have base jumped in many countries but to have such an exciting event in Dubai is a dream come true.”

Those who lived in the tower enjoyed seeing people whizz past their windows, with one resident, Suad Al Anazi, explaining, “It is an exciting spectacle to wake up in the morning and see people free fall past your balcony.”

The Princess Tower is 414 meters in the air (1,358 feet) and is 101 stories tall. It is the second tallest building in Dubai after the Burj Khalifa, while it is also the second tallest residential building in the world after New York City’s 432 Park Avenue. So, unless the latter starts running BASE jumping efforts from its roof, it should still have the monopoly of the BASE jumping market.

Those of you who are interested in taking part in the activity will be excited to hear that Neyadi plans on running the event again at some point next year.
