‘Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor’ Gets Game Of The Year Edition Next Week


To say Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was a great game last year would be selling it too short. The Monolith created Shadow of Mordor was winner of multiple awards, including game of the year at the 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards. With the many accolades heaped upon Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, it was only a matter of time until a “Game of the Year” edition popped up.

Well, here it is. Available May 5, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition will be available to fans on Xbox One, PS4, and PC for $49.99. The Game of the Year edition will include the base game and any and all DLC previously made available to Shadow of Mordor players. Interestingly enough, the new version of the game is only available on current gen consoles and PC, cutting out the last-gen versions completely.

According to a press release from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year will include the follow in detail:

  • Story Packs: The Lord of The Hunt and The Bright Lord
  • Skins: The Dark Ranger, Captain of the Watch, Lord of the Hunt, The Bright Lord, Power of Shadow and Lithariel Skins
  • Runes: Hidden Blade, Deadly Archer, Flame of Anor, Rising Storm, Orc Slayer, Defiant to the End, Elven Grace, Ascendant, One with Nature
  • Missions: Guardians of the Flaming Eye, The Berserks and The Skull Crushers Warband Missions
  • Challenge Modes: Test of Power, Test of Speed, Test of Wisdom, Endless Challenge, Test of the Wild, Test of the Ring, Test of Defiance Challenge Modes
  • Additional Features: Photo Mode

Shadow of Mordor has been critically acclaimed since its release for the innovative “Nemesis” system it employs. This system creates ever evolving gameplay, with each move Talion makes contributing to the ever changing landscape of Mordor. Enemies will remember each encounter. as you build up to face your ultimate nemesis.

For $49.99, fans will be hardpressed to find all of the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor content for less, so for those who have yet to help Talion seek vengeance for his slaughtered family, now isn’t a bad time to pick up the game. A while back, Monolith shared some statistics on just how many orcs have been killed in Shadow of Mordor. It was a lot.
