Two-Way Mirror Discovered By Comedian Tamale Rocks In Chicago Bar, Video Goes Viral, Sparks Police Investigation

A two-way mirror in the bathroom of the Cigar and Stripes bar in Chicago was discovered by comedian Tamale Rocks Saturday night and her video has now gone viral, sparking a police investigation.

According to Yahoo News, the comedian noticed the full-length mirror in the bathroom and after some poking around, determined that it was indeed a two-way mirror.

Documenting her discovery on video, Tamale Rocks described her experience of finding the two-way mirror on a YouTube post, which has now gone viral.

“I noticed a full-length mirror opposite of the toilet. Curious, I explored and discovered that it was two-way mirror, the door behind it cut away to allow an unobstructed view of the toilet… and anyone who may be using it.”

Rocks initially posted her video of the two-way mirror to Facebook on Sunday, but after receiving 4,000 hits in just 20 hours, she decided to post it to YouTube. The video has gotten more than 2.2 million hits.

Ronnie Lottz, the owner of the bar, said he will never remove the two-way mirror in the women’s bathroom, adding that he would rather burn the bar to the ground than remove the two-way mirror that has been there for nearly 15 years, according to Jezebel.

“We’re synonymous with Halloween. We do a freaky family fun day, and all the kids look in the mirror. This is a fun house, honey, and if you don’t like the two-way mirror, go f— yourself.”

Most of the regular patrons don’t seem to have a problem with the two-way mirror. In fact, they say it’s a running joke.

The Chicago Tribune reports a police investigation was sparked by the viral video of the two-way mirror. However, Police Chief James Ritz said that during the Halloween season, the club will often places a skull or mask behind the mirror and rigs it so it can be seen.

The chief did said he could understand why the mirror might be a cause of concern.

“Oh my God, absolutely,” Ritz said.

Tamale Rocks, who has been accused of attempting to draw attention to herself, said in an email to the Tribune that the two-way mirror was not OK.

“The fact that a two-sided mirror EXISTS in a bathroom is NOT OK. Cover it? So that it can be made operational afterward? No. Remove it. What if your daughter, or mom or sister was in there? So there isn’t someone in there right now. What if there has been? What if there will be? Get rid of the two-way mirror. How hard is this to understand?”

What do you think of the two-way mirror? Is it a big deal?
