Glory Johnson’s Fiancée, Brittney Griner, Submits To Diversion Agreement After Domestic Altercation

Last week, Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner and fiancée Glory Johnson made headlines due to a violent altercation which occurred in their shared residence. The two basketball players were arrested and charged with assault by the Goodyear Municipal Court. Now, the latest news reveals that the court will soon be dropping charges, as Griner has submitted herself to a diversion agreement.

As part of the diversion agreement, Griner will plead guilty to disorderly conduct. Furthermore, she will also be required to attend 26 weeks of domestic violence counseling. If she successfully completes counseling, all charges raised against her will be dismissed.

According to Griner’s attorney David Michael Cantor, the WNBA star voluntarily started counseling the day after she was arrested. In a recent statement made by Griner, she also expressed her determination to change. She understood that as an athlete, many fans are expecting her to be a good example. Griner made this statement.

“It is never okay for an argument to turn physical. This will never happen again, and I take my relationship and my responsibility as a role model seriously.”

“I am committed to making positive changes and I plan to use what I have learned to set a good example and help make a difference in the world around me.”

Yesterday, a controversial 911 call surfaced on the internet, sensationalizing the couple’s altercation. The said phone call dated April 22 was made by Johnson’s sister. In the recording, the sister reported that Griner and Johnson were yelling and throwing houseware at each other.

Because of the chaotic fight occurring in the background, the 911 operator asked the sister to step out from the home so she could clearly provide the information that the responders needed. A while later, cops arrived at Griner and Johnson’s residence and arrested the two women.

Along with the recording, photos of the injuries sustained by the couple and their unidentified friend were released to the public. The two only suffered minor injuries, including a bite mark on Griner’s finger. On the other hand, their friend suffered a gash on the side of his neck.

Griner explained to the authorities that the fight was caused by weeks of stress. Indeed, the two have been making some pretty big decisions lately as they establish a new life together. Last summer, the two announced their engagement and are now planning a wedding. Griner and Johnson also bought a new house.
