Furious Dad Bites Off Coach’s Ear

Timothy Forbes, 32, apparently decided to take one from Mike Tyson when he bit off part of a coach’s ear at his son’s 6th grade basketball game. The brief, yet vicious attack took place immediately after the game when Forbes’ son’s team lost. He reportedly became enraged at the loss, and tackled his way through a sea of 10- to 12- year old players before confronting the winning team’s coach. The attack took place on Friday evening at Holy Name School in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Reports say that the coach was rushed to Baystate Medical Center in shock, where his ear was surgically reattached. He is now at home resting. Several people attempted to pull the angry father off of thee coach, but he fled before the police arrived. Springfield Police Sargeant John Delaney stated that the victim knew Forbes, 34, as he was often an assistant coach, however it is not yet clear if he helped to coach Friday’s game.

Forbes eventually turned himself in at the Springfield courthouse on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty to numerous charges, including disorderly conduct, assault and battery, and felony mayhem. Springfield resident George Vigneault told WWLP that, “It’s a shame that that has to happen because it’s a terrible thing to teach children.” In a statement released by the Western Massachusetts CYO Basketball League, they wrote that it was the first time anything like it had occurred in the league. They went on to say that they were, “stunned by this act against one of our most dedicated coaches.”

This is not the first time that a father has bitten off a part of another human in the last few weeks, as a 32 year old father in China reportedly bit off his son’s penis.

What do you think of parents who go crazy over their kids losing a game that, let’s face it, won’t really matter in the future?
