Resignation Letter Viral: Woman’s Epic Hand-Written Resignation Letter Sparks Debate [Photo]

It’s always customary to submit a substantial notice when planning to resign from a company. In most cases, a two-week notice is submitted as a form of notification. When one disgruntled school worker recently decided she was absolutely fed up with her job, she followed protocol for resignation, but how she chose to do so has gone viral.

According to Woman’s Day, a Redditor with the username “Gahdzuks” recently shared an image of her hand-written resignation letter and grand exit from the private school she worked at. The shocking, passive-aggressive statement has left many readers wondering if she’d actually submit such a scorcher to any employer. Needless to say, the letter is definitely a sure-fire way to burn a bridge! The letter begins with a number of sarcastic apologies that highlight occasions when the school worker obviously felt overlooked.

Here’s the text from the extremely sarcastic letter:

“I am sorry that my step-mother died so suddenly from cancer. I am sorry that I am not a robot and was emotionally affected by her passing and had to miss work. I am sorry that I got sick and had to miss work so that I didn’t get anyone else sick.

“I am sorry I work 47.5 hours per week (without getting paid the overtime that I am legally owed) for the last 7 months, and thus have little choice but to schedule necessary doctor’s appointments during school hours. Clearly I am a terrible employee, and for that I apologize. I know you hate people telling you how to do your job, but I suggest you start looking for my replacement. Immediately.”

Of course, the letter has sparked controversy. Surprisingly, many Redditors slammed the woman for the letter, deeming it highly inappropriate and unprofessional. But, nevertheless, the former school worker strongly feels that she took the right approach, reports the Daily Mail.

“I’m a punctual, trustworthy employee who mostly keeps to herself. But all you have seen of me is what amounts to a misposted rant that did result in a professionally worded two-week notice. It is unfortunate.”

She also clarified that the uploaded post was only the first draft of the letter, and the finished product “was more clear and bereft of passive-aggressive speech.” Hopefully, the final draft was a bit more polished — and professional.
