American Idol Contestant Makes Up Story To Gain Sympathy Vote [Video]

Jermaine Jones, one of the finalists on the Fox hit show American Idol, seems to have more than a supple baritone singing voice. The gentle giant of the American Idol season seems to make up stories in order to win sympathy from the American people.

American Idol sources told TMZ that after the show aired last week Jermaine came to the producers and said his estranged father contacted him out of the blue to talk. He told the producers that his dad had abandoned him and his mother more than 10 years ago. Jermaine told the producers that he was extremely distraught that his dad would show up out of no where just because Jermaine was getting famous and was looking at a huge potential payday. Jermaine said his dad was “a lousy father” and wanted nothing to do with him.

TMZ contact Jermaine’s dad, Kevin Jones, who said that his son’s claims that they were estranged was totally crazy. The two had a normal relationship over the years and had even gone out to dinner on both Wednesday and Thursday of last week. He also debunked the whole idea of his contacting Jermaine was totally out of the blue. His father had been in the audience of the show just the week before.

When asked about the story Jermaine’s mother confirmed to the New Jersey Star Ledger that it was completely concocted. She had told them that while they were divorced Kevin had always been a normal part of Jermaine’s life.

American Idol producers said they were furious that Jermaine made up the story to get ahead in the show by drumming up some sympathy. American Idol ratings have already been down and a scandal won’t really help the situation.

We could not reach Jermaine for comment.

Do you think Jermaine should be thrown off the show?
