Beverly Hills reality star Kim Richards opened up about her April 16 arrest during an interview with Dr. Phil McGraw last week. During filming, Richards spoke of the hours leading up to her drunken arrest at the Beverly Hills Hotel, which started with a glass of vodka at her daughter Brooke Brinson’s home.
Speaking to the talk show host for his daytime talk show Dr. Phil, Richards reportedly claimed she didn’t intend to drink after arriving to the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge. However, Dr. Phil wasn’t buying her allegation, and an April 27 report by Daily Mail Online suggested she had every intention of continuing to drink upon arrival.
“You’re at your daughter’s house and all of the sudden, you are in there pouring a drink, and then you roll into a bar at midnight — and you’re already drunk when you get there. Why would you not order a drink? Why would you go to a bar if you’re not going to order a drink?”
Still, Richards insisted she did not go to the Polo Lounge to drink. Instead, she claimed, she stopped at the Beverly Hills Hotel to avoid driving while intoxicated.
“I was feeling the drink and I didn’t want to drive anymore, and I pulled in so I wouldn’t be on the road. I pulled in there because that’s a safe place for me. That’s where I usually go.”
“You went to a bar. You could have got a room. You could have gone into the lobby,” Dr. Phil then said.
Richards claimed she went to the Beverly Hills Hotel because she’s a regular there, and said she only planned to sit down for a while and regroup. She also said her late mother used to sit there, in the booth where she was, when she was a child.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, the Beverly Hills reality star, who has been a Real Housewife for the show’s last five seasons, entered a rehabilitation facility on Friday, several days after her interview with Dr. Phil took place. However, according to a Radar Online source, the reality star isn’t convinced she has a real need to be there.
“Kim doesn’t think she has a problem…if this hadn’t happened it would be business — that is to say denial — as usual.”
