It’s a question that many of us have been asking ourselves ever since the musical world was shocked by his departure last month: what does Stephen Hawking think about Zayn Malik quitting One Direction?
And during his recent appearance at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday evening, where he appeared onstage as a 3D hologram even though he was actually at Cambridge University, the iconic physicist was finally asked for his thoughts on Malik’s announcement.
The questioner probed, “What do you think is the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world?”
And, as usual, Hawking, who has always had one of the sharpest wits as well as one of the most extraordinary minds in the world, gave a perfect response.
“Finally, a question about something important. My advice to any heartbroken young girl is to pay close attention to the study of theoretical physics. Because one day there may well be proof of multiple universes.
It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe. And in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction.”
As answers to banal questions go, that’s one of the best you’re ever likely to hear. But then it got even better for the individual who asked the question, because Hawking added the following.
“This girl may like to know that in another possible universe, she and Zayn are happily married.”
Dr. Stephen Hawking deserves a huge round of applause from the entire planet for his ingenious response. Meanwhile, when he wasn’t being asked about the disintegration of the most popular boy-band on the planet, Hawking was probed about numerous other subjects that he knows quite a lot about.
This included topics like black holes, how he reacted when he diagnosed with ALS, and what the future holds for planet earth.
In fact, Hawking made a rather startling prediction about the state of our planet, predicting that we need to find somewhere else in the galaxy to progress.
“We must also continue to go into space for the future of humanity. I don’t think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet.”
Zayn Malik confirmed back in March that he had decided to leave One Direction to move onto new musical pastures, while Dr. Stephen Hawking was recently portrayed by Eddie Redmayne in The Theory Of Everything, a performance that was so lauded, it resulted in the English actor winning the Best Actor accolade at the Oscars.
