Calum Hood recently popped up in a short news report about the dangers of taking the Kylie Jenner lip challenge. But did the 5 Seconds of Summer singer really try to plump up his pout in an effort to look like the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star?

According to Sugarscape, Calum Hood’s lips make an appearance near the end of the NewsBeat Social bulletin below. The reporter in the video is trying to issue a serious warning that taking on the Kylie Jenner lip challenge can cause pain, bruising, and scarring. While she speaks, videos of teens with over-sized pouts play in the background.

Calum’s lips are a pretty impressive size in the last snapshot, but, as Sugarscape points out, he doesn’t need shot glasses or lip liner to make his pout look nice and plump — he’s just making an epic duckface. You can get a better look at his Twitter selfie below.

Unsurprisingly, 5 Seconds of Summer fans thought that Calum Hood’s appearance in the video was a riot, and many of them expressed their feelings on the matter in all caps. Because of Calum’s appearance, they completely missed the point of the video.

According to Sugarscape, the Calum photo was likely chosen for the news report because cheeky 5 Second of Summer fans were posting it as a response to the Kylie Jenner challenge hashtag that recently trended on Twitter.

The 5SOS guys love to goof off, but hopefully Calum Hood doesn’t actually attempt the viral phenomenon that is the Kylie Jenner lip challenge. As the Inquisitr previously reported, some teens are sticking their lips inside shot glasses and sucking out the air to create a vacuum effect. This fills the lips with blood and causes them to temporarily swell. However, the challenge can also cause permanent damage — doctors have started warning teens that they risk scarring and permanently disfiguring their lips by taking on the challenge. There have even been reports of lips busting open.

If Calum is up for trying the lip challenge, he might find it easier to get his hands on a shot glass now that he’s in the U.K., where the legal drinking age is 18. According to the Daily Mail, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin, and Luke Hemmings were kicked out of a Los Angeles hotspot for being underage earlier this month. You’d think by now the guys would know that the legal drinking age in the U.S. is 21.
