Warning: major spoilers ahead.
Grey’s Anatomy is losing another one of its leading characters.
After 11 long seasons, Patrick Dempsey, aka Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd, is exiting the show for good.
Somehow, a group of fans received a leaked issue of Entertainment Weekly and released one of the biggest spoilers on television to date, according to Just Jared.

Entertainment Weekly has issued an apology for the leaked information.
“We are surprised that an EW subscriber may have received their issue a day earlier than planned. We always try our best to bring readers exclusive news first. We would like to apologize to fans of the show that learned the news ahead of time.”
Earlier this week, Page Six hinted at the possibility that Dempsey would be leaving the show, revealing that he had been having issues with the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes.
“Patrick has been acting like a diva and has clashed with Shonda. She suspended him for a while, and the word on set is that he isn’t coming back full time. Given all the past problems with Katherine Heigl and Isaiah Washington, there is little tolerance on the show for troublesome talent.”
Patrick’s character has been absent much of season 11 after Derek moved to Washington D.C. to work for the president. He and Meredith had been having marriage problems, and he only returned to Seattle after Meredith called his phone and another woman answered. In an attempt to save his marriage, Shepherd came home to tell Meredith that he would be moving back full-time.

Dempsey has been very vocal about his desire to eventually leave the show. In November, he spoke to the Portland Press Herald, saying that he would be leaving the show “very soon.”
“I do want to act [after Grey’s Anatomy], but I might take a break and go race and travel first. I haven’t found a piece of material I want to do yet,” Dempsey said at the time.
