Travolta’s Son: Debut On Letterman Doesn’t Go Well, Ben Travolta Appears Camera Shy

John Travolta’s son made his debut on The Late Show With David Letterman on Tuesday, but things didn’t go as planned. As the actor was talking about his 4-year-old son to Dave, the talk show host suggested bringing Benjamin out to meet him. Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, carried the child to the wings, but the moment she put Ben down, he bolted in the other direction.

According to Us Weekly, John was promoting his new film The Forger when he got to talking about Ben.

“He loves trucks. For the first time in my life, I bought a red Dodge Ram pick-up truck, a big one, and he loves it—Ella loves it. I take him for rides… I took him to Toys ‘R’ Us recently, and he said to me when we got out of the truck and in the cart, ‘Why are all these people wanting my photograph?’ Because I didn’t know if he knew I was in films or not. He said, ‘Well, maybe they saw one of your movies!’ And he said, ‘I want to work with you!’ So we’ll see how that evolves. I don’t want to force [it].”

John Travolta’s son’s television debut might not be a great way for him to start his career in the business, but you can bet that the clip will be shown again and again if the kid becomes an actor like his parents. According to E! News, both Travolta and Letterman tried to coax little Ben to come on to the stage, but the child wanted to stay with his mom — and off of the camera. Clearly shy, Ben kept burying his head in Kelly’s shoulder.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Letterman was quick to make a joke about Ben’s stage ditch.

“I think there’s a place for him on the staff,” he said.

While hundreds of people have watched the video online, most have ripped Travolta and Preston, slamming them and Scientology. Check out the comments on YouTube to see for yourself.

“Push your family in spotlight much Johnny? Is this to make sure everyone knows you were with a woman enough times to reproduce? Not even gonna touch on the hair vanity or Scientology wackiness. He’s too easy a target with that,” said one user.

“I thought Travolta would have the kid on a leash..You can tell he was upset his kid didn’t listen to him..lol..smh [sic],” said another.

It does seem, however, that Ben was just acting his age. He’s only four, after all. What are your thoughts?
