Louis CK Cancels Speech After Conservatives Throw A Fit

Comedian Louis CK won’t be giving a speech at the upcoming 68th Radio & Television Correspondents Association dinner after conservatives became enraged at the thought of CK providing any type of comic relief in front of a mixed conservative and liberal audience.

Fox News host Greta Van Susteren called Louis CK a “pig” for comments he has made about women and Sarah Palin in the past.

In attacking the “liberal media” conservative writer Kristinn Taylor wrote:

“It’s because he said those things about Sarah Palin that the DC media thought it was OK … If he had said those things about Michelle Obama, no way in hell he would’ve been invited.”

In the meantime Louis CK’s agent told CNN’s Peter Hamby that he wasn’t backing out because of pressure but rather because:

“He just didn’t want to do it anymore.”

Louis CK has an impressive TV resume that includes work on The Chris Rock Show, Lucky Louis and his current FX hit Louis. That TV success alone afforded the comedian a spot at the dinner despite his often off-color humor.

On the other hand one positive could have come if he had decided to give his speech regardless of conservative pressure. Greta Van Susteren had promised not to attend the event if he performed.

Unfortunately for attendees their now stuck with what I’m sure will be a hilarious night with Greta.

Do you think Louis CK was wrongfully attacked by right wing conservatives or should a less controversial (boring?) choice have been chosen from the start?
