But the faltering Pakistan side now have even more to play for, coming under pressure from former players and Pakistan cricket officials, who publicly blasted the current team for the national humiliation of not one but two crushing defeats to Bangladesh.
“I agree with what the critics are saying about our cricket. There are many problem areas but now we have to be patient and wait for things to turn around,” Pakistan Coach Waqar Younis said in an interview Tuesday.
“We have new players and we are building a new team now under a new captain, so everyone will have to be patient. It is not going to be easy but going back will only hurt our cricket more.”
After the final ODI Wednesday, the Pakistan tour of Bangladesh resumes with the only T20 match on Friday. The culmination of the tour comes with two Test matches, starting on April 28 and May 6.
