George Lucas Changes Jedi Marriage Code For Seven-Year-Old Fan

George Lucas has been persuaded to change the rules of the Jedi Order surrounding attachment and marriage, after a seven-year-old fan expressed his desire to have a family without joining the Sith.

The Jedi code famously forbids attachment and marriage, asserting that they are paths to the Dark Side of the force, as the Sun Times National notes. Star Wars fans saw this played out in the last two installments of Lucas’ prequel trilogy, yet one young fan, named Colin, feared that his desire for a family in the future would prevent him from becoming the Jedi he wants to be. To rectify the situation, he did the most logical thing possible, and dashed off a letter to George Lucas asking for a change in the Jedi code.

Dear George Lucas,

I don’t like that a Jedi cannot get married. I want to get married without becoming a Sith. Please change the rule. P.S. I want to come to Skywalker Ranch please.

Love Colin

As Geek Dad points out, Colin didn’t have long to wait, receiving a surprise reply in the form of a letter and care package from Lucasfilm. The letter told Colin that the values of a Jedi do in fact align with those of a healthy marriage, prompting the young fan to exclaim excitedly that, thanks to George Lucas, he can “get married.”

Hello, Colin,

Thank you so much for writing to us with your question. It sounds like the Force is strong with you, and you are showing great wisdom by asking your question. To be a Jedi is to truly know the value of friendship, of compassion, and of loyalty, and these are values important in a marriage. The Sith think inward, only of themselves. When you find someone that you can connect to in a selfless way, then you are on the path of the light, and the dark side will not take hold of you. With this goodness in your heart, you can be married.

We enclosed a few gifts that we hope you enjoy. Thank you again for writing to us.

May the Force Be With You!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at Lucasfilm

Though George Lucas has recently been in the news for a proposed housing project and his admission that he hasn’t viewed the newest trailer for The Force Awakens, as the Inquisitr previously reported, Colin was unabashed in his admiration for the Star Wars creator who changed the rules so he could be a Jedi.

“I can get married! No way! George Lucas is so nice!”
