Eddie Murphy Has ‘A Thousand Words’ To Complete Comeback

2012 was supposed to be the year that Eddie Murphy returned to the top of the comedy world. He was scheduled to host the Oscars and had two big movies coming out. Well, the Oscar gig fell through and his first movie, “Tower Heist,” was a flop. Murphy will get one more shot at the box office this year as his new movie, “A Thousand Words,” opens in theaters this weekend.

But critics aren’t too confident that “A Thousand Words” will be a success. The movie currently has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and Murphy was recently placed on Forbes “Most Overpaid Actors” list. (Which means that Eddie might make money from his movies, but no one else does.)

Paramount Pictures was hoping that “A Thousand Words” would be able to coast on Murphy’s newfounded popularity. “Tower Heist” was supposed to be a hit, Murphy would knock them dead at the Oscars, and fans would flock to “A Thousand Words” no matter how bad it was.

Eddie Murphy plays a fast talking agent in “A Thousand Words,” but due to a lie he tells a magical guru Murphy has to tighten his lip as every word he says brings him closer to death. Here’s the trailer for “A Thousand Words.”

Some critics are saying that if “A Thousand Words” bombs it could be the final nail in Murphy’s career. Are you going to see Eddie Murphy in “A Thousand Words?”
