Weekend At Bernie’s? Buddies Arrested For Taking Dead Friend On Drunken Bar Crawl

Robert Young and Mark Rubinson must really love the movie Weekend at Bernie’s or that would at least seem to be the case after the two men placed their dead buddy in the back of a car and then visited various bars and restaurants around the area.

The men used their dead pals credit card to pay for drinks at a strip club after they found their buddy dead in his own home.

Because using the credit card of a dead person is illegal the men were arrested and ultimately pled guilty to abusing a corpse and identity theft.

In defending his actions during the lawsuit Young says he believed his friend was just really drunk and not dead, although it was later determined that he had died from a lethal mix of drugs and alcohol.

For their strange and disturbing efforts the men received two years probation, have been handed 50 hours of community service each and must submit to random and drug and alcohol tests.

The men have also been ordered to pay $1,289.56 in restitution for the money they spent on their dead friends credit card. Both men must also maintain full-time employment as a result of their monetary settlement.

The prosecution believes the men entered their plea bargains and offered their apologies as a result of the compassion for their dead friend’s family.

Do you think Robert and Mark received a strict enough punishment given the fact that they brought a dead guy into restaurants, bars and strip clubs while making him pay for the entire night?
