Tim Tebow And Mark Sanchez: Can QBs Co-Exist In Philadelphia After Failed 2012 Experiment?

The last thing Mark Sanchez probably ever wanted to hear may soon come to pass: Tim Tebow to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.

As reported by Jay Glazer via his Twitter account, the Eagles are planning on bringing Tebow into camp as they begin their offseason program.

Adam Schefter meanwhile, is reporting that the contract itself is for a one-year deal.

With Tebow coming on board, the Eagles are loaded at the QB position, and that doesn’t even include the possibility that the Eagles may trade up to draft Marcus Mariota (though as reported by Inqiuistr, that draft day move seems highly unlikely now). Currently on their roster the Eagles have Sam Bradford, Matt Barkley, G.J. Kinne and of course Mark Sanchez, who re-signed with the Eagles in the offseason.

Sanchez resurrected his once promising career under Chip Kelly’s offense after Nick Foles went down with injury last season. He put up consistent numbers that helped bolster his image around the league. Ironically enough, it was his initial pairing with Tim Tebow back in 2012 that led to his career downfall in the first place.

Back in 2011, Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez were both riding high with their respective teams, the Denver Broncos and The New York Jets. Sanchez led the Rex Ryan coached team to back-to-back championship games before missing the playoffs narrowly in 2011.

Tebow, meanwhile, led the Denver Broncos to an 8-8 record and a stunning playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers that made it appear as if he’d be the quarterback for the foreseeable future. However, somewhere halfway between New York and Denver, another team, the Indianapolis Colts were grappling with their own quarterback situation.

With the NFL’s worst record at the time, the Colts had the fortuitous luck of picking first in the upcoming draft and a QB phenom in Andrew Luck on the board that year. They chose Luck over Peyton and from there, the dominoes – and careers of Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow – began to fall.

Peyton signed with the Broncos who shipped Tim off to New York. The tandem of Sanchez and Tebow never got off the ground with the Jets and the pair went their separate ways – Sanchez to Philadelphia after getting hurt in 2013 and Tebow to the SCC network as it’s star analyst.

But now they’re back. Together. With the Eagles and Chip Kelly. Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez: take two.

What do you think? Will the Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez pairing end the same way it did the first time?
