Demi Lovato Shows Off Her Curves, Denounces Thigh Gap

Demi Lovato took to the stage in Australia this weekend in a body-hugging outfit that showed off her curves, and shared a photo of the look on Instagram, where she denounced the “thigh gap” sensation that has become an obsession for many young women.

Lovato, who has been open about her battle with an eating disorder in the past, has spoken out recently about the need to embrace a change in thinking regarding women’s bodies.

“Regardless of what society tells you these days… You don’t have to have a thigh gap to be beautiful. For some reason, this whole thigh gap thing has kind of swept over what people think is beautiful and if you have that naturally, then that’s totally fine, you’re still beautiful. My body doesn’t naturally have that,” the singer told E! News.

Demi recently took to social media to thank her longtime beau, actor Wilmer Valderrama, for sticking by her side through her battles with substance abuse, self-harm, and bulimia as she worked hard to get through it.

“I wish I could put into words how grateful I am for this man right here,” she wrote on Instagram in March. “But my love has grown to a level that words could never possibly express how much this man completes me. He’s loved me the way I never thought I deserved to be loved and with this day marking my 3rd year sober.”

Demi said in a 2013 interview that despite her sudden fame and success as a Disney Channel star, she spiraled deeper and deeper into drug use.

“I couldn’t go 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes. I had all the help in the world, but I didn’t want it. When I hit that moment I was like, ‘it’s no longer fun when you’re doing it alone.’ That is alcoholic behavior, it’s no longer ‘I’m young and rebellious and out having fun’, it was, ‘wow, I’m one of those people.’ I got to get my act together,” she revealed.

From the looks of her Instagram account, Demi Lovato is enjoying her time on tour; she’ll travel through Australia and New Zealand before moving on to Southeast Asia at the end of the month. Her most recent post showed her true feelings about the thigh gap trend, with a caption that read, “Ph**kkk yo thigh gap… #latinacurves.” The post has over 700,000 likes on Instagram.
