Are Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Really Adopting A Syrian Orphan?

Have Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finally given in to the media pressure to adopt an orphan from Syria?

The Daily Express claims that the celebrity couple is ready to expand their brood yet again. The U.K. publication alleges that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hope to add to their collection of kids from around the globe sometime this summer when they adopt a little girl from Syria. A longtime “business associate” of Brangelina broke the adoption news, and the source claimed that Angelina’s many visits to Syrian refugee camps played a part in her decision to adopt from the war-torn country.

“She has been moved to tears on several occasions over the plight of youngsters orphaned in the Syrian conflict,” the source said. “Now she has sorted out her health issues, she and Brad believe the time is right to adopt another orphan from there, most likely a daughter.”

Earlier this month, Gossip Cop debunked a similar report about Brangelina adopting a Syrian orphan, but it sounds like the Daily Express is trying to suggest that Angelina Jolie simply decided to wait a little longer to adopt because she recently underwent surgery to have ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the Oscar-winning actress wrote an op-ed explaining that she carries a gene that dramatically increases her chances of developing breast cancer or ovarian cancer. Numerous women in her family died after battles with cancer, so Angelina Jolie decided to take preventive measures to ensure that she’ll be around for her kids for many years to come. She also documented her decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy in 2013.

Cosmopolitan points out that the threat of ISIS is making life for Syrian children a living hell, and Angelina Jolie has heard some horrific tales about what happens to kids in the country. During a speech at the London School of Economics, the special envoy for the U.N. refugee agency shared the heartwrenching story a 13-year-old girl who had been raped by militants.

“She is 13 years old, but instead of going to school, she sits on the floor in a makeshift tent,” Jolie said. “Now she may never be able to complete her education, or get married or have a family, because in her society victims of rape are shunned, and considered shameful.”

Most orphans from Syria would likely love to join the Jolie-Pitt family, but, sadly, it’s looking like this recent adoption rumor isn’t true — the Daily Mail reports that a rep for Brad Pitt has denied it. The Syrian orphan story has been around since at least 2013, when it was reported by the Sun and the London Evening Standard. It’s one of those celebrity rumors that just gets resurrected over and over again.

Angelina Jolie has encountered many needy children during her humanitarian missions, and she’d obviously love to help them all if she could. However, perhaps she and Brad Pitt feel like they wouldn’t be able to give each of their children the attention they need if they adopted too many kids. Their attention is already divided between six children: Cambodian-born Maddox, Vietnamese-born Pax, Ethiopian-born Zahara, and their three biological kids, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne.

Do you think Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will ever adopt again?
