Ashton Irwin Reassures 5SOS Fans That He’s No Zayn Malik, Isn’t Doing Drugs Or Melting Down

Ashton Irwin wants 5 Seconds of Summer fans to know that he’s not risking the band’s future by doing drugs. However, he also shared a suspiciously colorful description of what it’s like to consume certain illegal substances.

According to Sugarscape, concerned 5 Seconds of Summer fans recently alerted Ashton Irwin about the existence of a tawdry tabloid tale that compared 5SOS to One Direction. Many boy band fans wouldn’t see this as a bad thing — after all, 1D is currently the most successful boy band in the world. However, the magazine tried to claim that Ashton Irwin and his bandmates have picked up the illegal habits of certain 1D members.

“First 1D now… 5SOS’ SHOCK DRUG CLAIMS,” the sensational title read. It went on to claim that the members of 5 Seconds of Summer are “mirroring their boy band idols” and that 5SOS is on the verge of a “meltdown.” However, Ashton Irwin was quick to reassure fans that he and his bandmates are not doing drugs, and no one is leaving 5SOS because of substance abuse issues.

The tabloid’s story was accompanied by a few not-so-flattering photos of Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Luke Hemmings. One fan pointed out that the mag simply used “pictures of 5SOS’ derp faces” to make it look like the guys were high, and Ashton Irwin agreed. According to the singer, he and his bros just aren’t very photogenic.

One fan thinks Michael Clifford is mostly to blame for the drug rumors.

At least the 5SOS guys only got caught making horrible faces. Two of their old tour mates, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, found out what it’s like to be at the center of a real drug controversy when they were caught sharing a joint in Peru. The Daily Mail shared a video of the pals lighting up, and the guys can be heard joking about their “very controversial” contraband in the incriminating clip.

Less than a year after that video surfaced, Zayn Malik would decide to walk away from One Direction. There are now rumors that Louis Tomlinson may follow in footsteps, so you can see why 5 Seconds of Summer fans don’t want the Aussie guys to get high — it might warp their minds by making them think that they’ll be better off leaving the band so that they can take more magic unicorn rides without having to worry about angering the parents of their impressionable young fans.

According to Hollywood Take, Ashton Irwin doesn’t need drugs to feel good — he’s currently high on love. Ashton has recently been spotted spending a little quality time with his rumored girlfriend, Bryana Holly. If 5 Seconds of Summer has a “no drug” policy, hopefully the guys do a better job adhering to it than they do to their “no girlfriends allowed” rule.
