Kelly Clarkson to Star in New Singing Competition, ‘Duets’

The original American Idol Kelly Clarkson is not only returning to television, but also in an all-new singing competition where she’s on the hunt for her ultimate singing partner.

Clarkson will join singers Robin Thicke, Lionel Richie, and Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles for the newest singing competition. These popular singers were picked by ABC to go out and search for their new musical protégés for the upcoming reality series, Duets. The new reality competition series is set to premiere this summer on ABC.

Instead of having celebrity judges sit behind the judge’s table and critique singers after every performance, Duets is doing something a little different. These four talented singers are heading out all across American in search of two singers who will ultimately be their duet partners. Each week the celebrity and one of their singers are going to take the stage and perform a number in front of the live studio audience.

“The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people I believe in, sing with them every week and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing I can’t wait to be a part of,” Clarkson said in an official press release from ABC.

At the end of the competition, the last singer standing will score an amazing recording contract with Hollywood Records. So whose team is going to win? Will it be Kelly, Robin, Lionel, or Jennifer? Tune in this summer to find out!
