Captain America And Iron Man Won’t Be Alone In Next Summer’s ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Captain America will be squaring off against Iron Man next summer in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. The movie, which opens May 6, 2016, will closely follow the storyline from the original comic book source material.

In the story, some of the Marvel heroes are in support of the Superhuman Registration Act, which serves as a means of keeping track of those with superpowers. Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man is among the chief supporters of the act. On the other side of the dispute is Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, who stands firmly against the act.

As much as the fight will be between Iron Man and Captain America, they will not be the only ones involved. Other heroes form the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be choosing sides in next year’s blockbuster.

SPOILERS ahead for Captain America: Civil War.

News recently broke regarding the plot and where many of the characters will find themselves in the film as reported by JoBlo. War Machine, The Vision and Ant-Man will side with Iron Man in support of the Superhuman Registration Act. While Black Widow, Hawkeye and Falcon will team with Captain America on the side of those who oppose registration.

Other heroes also said to appear in Captain America: Civil War are Scarlet Witch, Black Panther and Spider-Man. It has not yet been revealed, though, which side any of the them will be on, as much of the story for the movie will be taking liberties from the original source material.

Black Panther, who was announced to be joining the MCU last October, will be played by Chadwick Boseman. The character will also be getting his own solo feature film, which will mark the first African-American led film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Black Panther’s involvement in Captain America: Civil War, though important, will not be as simple as choosing a side. It has been reported that he will have his own agenda during the ensuing conflict between the Marvel heroes.

Spider-Man, to the the delight of fans everywhere, will be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War. As reported by the Inquisitr, Spider-Man will be a teenager as depicted in the comics. Spider-Man was majorly important in the original comic book story. His place in the film, though, has not yet been revealed. The role of Spider-Man also has not yet been cast.

Of the Avengers who are noticeably absent from the report are The Hulk, Quicksilver, and Thor. Thor will be reportedly taking care of business during the events of the character’s third solo film, Thor: Ragnarok.

As for The Hulk and Quicksilver, it is suspected that the events taking place in Avengers: Age Of Ultron will determine the fate going forward for the two heroes.

As for the villains who have been confirmed, Baron Zemo and Crossbones, will be contributing to the rift between the Marvel heroes, especially Captain America and Iron Man.

If the reports are accurate, it will mean that there will be just as many heroes featured in Captain America: Civil War as there will be in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, at eleven. The only major difference is that instead of teaming up as they would in Avengers, they will be battling it out.
