‘Figure It Out’ Returns to Nickelodeon After Over 10 Years

Remember when Nickelodeon used to rule? Though the channel has gone downhill in recent years with programming that mostly appeals to the hearing-impaired, a small dose of nostalgia will be making waves on the channel soon, as forty new episodes of the fill-in-the-blank game show Figure It Out have been ordered for production.

The kids’ game show, which was hosted by Olympic swimmer (and my first crush) Summer Sanders during the late 90s, challenged a panel of Nick celebrities (cast members from other shows like Pete & Pete or All That!) to guess a kid’s unique talent or skill, usually something adorable like teaching a pet hamster to swim or eating cereal out of someone’s belly button.

Panelists included the likes of Amanda Bynes, Danny Tamberelli, Lori Beth Denberg and current Saturday Night Live cast member Kenan Thompson. They would ask questions in order to fill in the blanks on a board named Billy the Answer Head, an iconic image for kids of the 90s. During the show, prizes were frequently given out, people in jumpsuits would act out clues and slime would be dumped on the panelists’ heads for… well… no good reason at all. *sigh* What a show.

There are no reports as to who will be sitting in the host’s seat for the new run of episodes, but it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Sanders fitting the bill. There’s also no word as to whether or not Billy the Answer Head is open to returning.

It might be wonderful, it might be terrible, most likely it just won’t be the same, but news like this gives me hope for the future of television. Here’s a clip for old times’ sake:
