A Dunkin Donuts employee allegedly beat his wife – also an employee – to death at a Hanover branch of the restaurant. After the shocking story emerged last week, the local community, as well as the rest of America, was left reeling.
Following the brutal murder, Anne Arundel County police are still looking for the suspect. Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel, 24. He is accused of killing his wife, 21-year-old Palak Bhadreskumar Patel, inside the kitchen of the Hanover branch of Dunkin Donuts.
After customers complained that the door was unlocked, but no workers were in the store last Sunday evening, police were called to the restaurant at around 11 p.m. Responding officers were shocked to find the woman bludgeoned to death.
While the police are left scratching their heads as to the location of the suspect, Anne Arundel County spokesman T.J. Smith said, “Our message to the public: we’ve released his photo out there. If you know where he is, call us.”
When the cops do finally catch up with Mr. Patel, he will face charges of first- and second-degree murder. A reward of $2,000 is being offered by Metro Crime Stoppers for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Those who may know of his whereabouts are urged to come forward.
The Dunkin Donuts head office released a statement regarding the shocking incident.
“We are aware of the tragic incident that occurred at the Dunkin’ Donuts / Baskin-Robbins combination restaurant on Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover, Maryland. All of us at Dunkin’ Brands are saddened to learn of the death of crew member Palak Bhadreskumar Patel, and our thoughts go out to her family and friends. The franchise owner is cooperating fully with the local authorities in their investigation. As this is a pending police matter, it is inappropriate for us to comment further.”
