‘The Doctors’ Check Up On Honey Boo Boo: Did She Meet Her Weight-Loss Goals

The Doctors’ Travis Stork staged a weight loss intervention in February to help Honey Boo Boo and her mother, Mama June Shannon, for Honey Boo Boo’s health. He found that, at four feet nine inches, Honey Boo Boo was obese at 125 pounds, being 55 to 65 pounds overweight. She admitted to loving unhealthy foods, such as sweets and fried foods, according to the Examiner, stating the following.

“I love a lot of stuff deep fried. I love deep fried Oreos.”

Though June attempted to blame the medicines Honey Boo Boo is taking for asthma, Stork called her out, stating that Mama June had to take responsibility for her daughter’s poor diet. He put Alana — aka Honey Boo Boo — on an age-appropriate diet modeled after his best-selling book, The Doctor’s Diet. At that time, they seemed excited to change.

Now, the Doctors did a follow-up to see if they’ve followed through on their weight loss and healthy eating goals. Nutritionist Jeanne McDaniel and Dr. Rachael Ross make a house call to Mama June Shannon’s home to check up on her Honey Boo Boo.

And the results were not too positive as far as establishing healthy eating habits. McDaniel stated the following, according to ETOnline.

“There are a lot of meals that have been left over from some weeks that just can make you wonder if she’s snacking on other items–especially at school….It appears that Alana is just kind of doing this on her own right now.”

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” and Mama June first rose to fame after starring on the Toddlers & Tiaras, a hit reality series on TLC. They then had their own reality series from 2012-2014, also a hit, called Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

It’s not clear whether and, if so, how much weight Honey Boo Boo lost so far, though according to her Facebook page, it’s indicated that she hasn’t lost weight but is eating better. She has been seen at the gym — though in sandals, and not in normal sneakers or athletic shoes — on the treadmill. They have been seen at a Hollywood gym being put through their paces by celebrity personal trainer Natasha Fett, according to the Daily Mail. Mama June was seen on various exercise equipment and lifting weights, while her daughter was on a treadmill.

Will another intervention be staged? Time will tell when Honey Boo Boo will have another weigh-in to see if the Doctors believe she has made sufficient progress or to tweak her program — or to again call Mama June on the carpet about any errant eating habits.

Other children may be picky eaters, such as those who don’t want to eat their veggies. It’s now thought that some children thought to be picky eaters may actually have a disorder called selective eating disorder, as reported in the Inquisitr.
