Ricky Gervais Mocks Giraffe-Killing Hunter After She Says She Has ‘No Regrets’

Utah hunter Rebecca Francis posts her many kills on Facebook. After a picture of her lying next to a giraffe that she killed went viral, British comedian and actor Ricky Gervais joined the fray and posted some very firm, anti-hunting tweets on Twitter aimed at Francis. There are over 35,000 retweets on his page alone. Gervais is known as being an animal rights advocate. For example, he stated the following:

“What must’ve happened to you in your life to make you want to kill a beautiful animal & then lie next to it smiling?”

The tweets went viral, with many followers on his side, and many threatened Francis, who admits to being an extreme hunter, winning U.S. reality television series “Extreme Huntress,” according to Metro. She has killed brown bears, moose, zebras, and antelopes. In fact, she lists quite an laundry list of kills: a ten-and–half foot brown bear, black bear, shiras moose, alaskan moose, dall sheep, stone sheep, desert bighorn ram, rocky mountain bighorn ram, mule deer, whitetail deer, elk, mountain goat, antelope, arapawa ram, kudu, zebra, black wildebeest, giraffe, springbuck, blesbuck, lynx, badger, and squirrel. Many have written very nasty messages to her because of her killings and how proud and happy she appears next to the images of the dead animals. According to UKNW, Francis stated the following.

“I believe that you should live life to the fullest with no regrets, and push yourself to the limit. If you don’t experience everything you can in life, you’ll miss out on some irreplaceable memories….Life is so short and so wonderful that I don’t want to miss out on a single second.”

After the huntress posted that she has “no regrets” for her kills, including the one where she lies beaming next to a recently killed giraffe, Ricky Gervais shot back. But not with a bow and arrow. Instead, in his inimitable comic style, he posted a picture of himself lying next to a bowl of tofu and rice, mocking Francis’ post.

“This Tofu & Rice was old and sad and wanted me to kill it. Now I will eat it.”

Francis claims to have had “hundreds of thousands” of death threats after pictures were circulated online. In fact, she has, according to UKNW become the hunted, with many enraged posts from animal lovers calling her out. In an interview with “Hunting Life Magazine,” she claimed to have killed the giraffe at the center of the debate out of kindness. Francis claims that he was old and was kicked out of his herd and was older and close to death. She stated that the local people ate the animals, then used its tail to make jewelry, and that no part of the animal was wasted. Francis stated, according to Metro, the following.

“I am grateful to be a part of something so good.”

Francis is a mother of eight and has co-hosted the television show “Eye of the Hunter.” She has indicated that virtually nothing stops her from killing animals on the hunt and that she has hunted through pregnancies and through nursing her babies.

Another hunter, Ian Gibson, was, unfortunately killed by an elephant that he was planning to kill for its ivory. He was trampled to death according to an article in the Inquisitr.
