TV Personality Kim Richards Was ‘Increasingly Out Of It’ Leading Up To Arrest

TV personality Kim Richards was arrested on Thursday morning in Los Angeles after an alleged “drunken rampage” at the Beverly Hills Hotel. A source now claims the incident may have been a long time coming.

On April 16, a source spoke to People Magazine, claiming the TV personality’s possible relapse may not have been a one-time occurrence.

“It will never get better. … [Richards] has been acting increasingly out of it. She’s been a mess, showing up late to events and social gatherings and acting bizarre or belligerent or both.”

According to the magazine source, the situation is “heartbreaking” for the Richards family, who have attempted to support the TV personality throughout her years of addiction struggles.

“They of course love [Richards] and want to help, but no one can talk any sense into her because she is so out of it.”

The TV personality, who has starred since Season 1 on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has chronicled much of her struggles on the show. Throughout the first two seasons, Richards was seen at her worst, and many of her co-stars, including now-friend Brandi Glanville, called her out on it. Then, during Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the TV personality was seen again, seemingly out of it and unfocused at a poker party thrown by Eileen Davidson. During the bash, Richards appeared to be drunk, but later claimed she had simply taken a pain killer given to her by her ex-husband, Monty Brinson, who is currently battling cancer.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Richards defended her sobriety in a Bravo blog. Below is what the TV personality told fans.

“I wish people would just stop trying to intrude in my life and ‘fix’ a problem that doesn’t exist. Would it break their hearts terribly to know and accept that I am healthy and well? I hate to sound like a broken record, but yes, I made a mistake when I took Monty’s pain pill to relieve the chronic pain from my injuries, and yes, I am still sober and strong mentally and physically.”

The TV personality went on to explain that a relapse, according to the recovery programs, is when someone abandons their recovery program by choice, which she claims she didn’t do. Instead, she alleged she took the medication to address her back pain.

The TV personality will be seen in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ lost footage episode, airing on Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
