At least five people were reportedly killed in a shootout inside a home in Phoenix, Arizona. The shootout, which is believed to be the result of a family dispute, has left three men and two women dead, USA Today reports. According to the report, a SWAT team was called in, following which a robotic probe was sent in to search the home before police officers and police dogs were sent in to investigate. After police officers finally got inside the home after an hour-long barricade situation, they discovered the bodies of five adults.
According to reports, the shootout happened in North Phoenix, in a residential neighborhood near 44th Street and Bell Road in the 4300 block of East Anderson Drive. Police officers first arrived on the scene a little after 2 p.m., local time. According to witnesses, they heard sounds of muted gunshots emanating from the home, nearly an hour later. Police officers managed to talk to one woman who was reportedly inside the house during the shootout — but managed to escape unhurt. The unidentified woman told police officers that the shootout was the result of a family dispute gone wrong.
Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix police confirmed that a SWAT team was called in for assistance.
“Our dispatcher could hear shots fired in the background while that call was coming in,” Crump said. “A caller had been able to escape the home at that point, get out and start to give us information,” he added.
At the time of publishing this article, police officers are still investigating the cause of this shootout. Officers have also not been able to identify the five individuals who have been killed in the shootout, reports ABC News. More details regarding the actual reason behind this shootout is expected to be known in the coming hours after police officers complete primary investigations. Meanwhile, officers investigating the case have confirmed that they are not looking for any suspects at this point of time.
