Manny Pacquiao Wins ‘Promotional Round’ For Upcoming Fight Against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. [Videos]

It is evident that the media is becoming more aggressive in their coverage on the upcoming Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight the closer it gets to May 2, 2015. The Inquisitr reported on the latest coverage, which most seems to stem from Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach. From what Roach says, Mayweather will be the underdog for the upcoming fight because Mayweather’s trainer, his dad, stinks as a coach. Not only that, Roach has fired up Pacquiao — a religious family man — by informing him about Mayweather’s domestic violence history.

The recent news is just some of the many stories pertaining to the upcoming Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight. However, one such report now claims that the “promotional round” (a.k.a. Round Zero) has already been won and it goes to Manny Pacquiao.

According to an exclusive article by The Guardian, the reason for why they say Manny Pacquaio has won the “promotional round” is for all he has done prior to the fight. Though the “trash talk” side of influencing the media is done mostly by Freddie Roach, Pacquaio has gone a different direction to appeal to the masses, mostly through establishing relationships and appealing to the people.

In the United States, Pacquiao recently purchased a $12.5 million home in Beverly Hills last month along with his endorsing Butterfinger Cups. In his home country of the Philippines, Pacquiao sincerely performed a song titled “Lalaban Ako Para Sa Filipino” (I Will Fight for the Filipinos). The official music video contains not only boxing footage, but scenes from typhoon damage.

Along with the public generally backing up Pac-Man, Manny Pacquaio’s been getting a lot of support from famous people including Tim Tebow, David Chappelle, Lorraine Bracco, and Robert Duvall. However, out of all the famous people in support of Pacquaio, Ronda Rousey is the biggest name pertaining to competitive fight sports. According to CBS Sports, Rousey visited with Pacquaio at his home to show her support. There, the two talked about many things including Rousey’s recent 14-second victory against Cat Zingano. Later on, Pacquiao would tweet the meeting to all his fans on his official Twitter page.

Manny Pacquiao has almost everyone on his side when it comes to his upcoming fight against Floyd Mayweather, Jr., and a lot of it is because Pacquiao is actually out and about among the media and the public bringing hype to the fight.

Now to be fair, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has said the reason why he isn’t out like Manny Pacquiao is because he’s “training hard.” That statement does sound legit but it is odd coming from Mayweather since he is not known for humility. Throughout his career, Mayweather has bragged about his undefeated 47-0 record along with his desire to retire an undefeated professional boxer. For him to say such a statement, along with others like one fight not defining his career, are peculiar indeed.

Maybe that is why it is reported that Manny Pacquiao has won the “promotional round.” Though his involvement among the media and public helps, the fact that Floyd Mayweather, Jr. isn’t acting like the “TBE” (The Best Ever) he claims he is, might just be the biggest promotional win of all.
