‘Castle’: Update On Nathan Fillion And Stana Katic For Season 8, Plus Season 7 Finale Spoilers

Is Castle nearing its end on ABC? It’s beginning to look like a possibility, with only one of the two leads signed on for a potential eighth season at the moment, and while anything can happen and anyone can sign a new deal at the last minute, remember, the network hasn’t renewed the series for another season yet either.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, while Beckett wonders what she wants her future to look like, talking about having kids with Castle is part of a discussion, but right now, with Castle season 8 not confirmed – and not everyone coming back as of yet – will fans get to see the couple have a baby? That has yet to be seen, but if there is an eighth season, perhaps that could be on the table, if Stana Katic returns.

That’s right. Currently, TVGuide.com reports, while Nathan Fillion has signed on for season 8 (if it happens), Katic has not. Also, if there is another season, there will be a new showrunner, as David Amann will not be returning. Seamus Dever’s contract is also up this year, so it is possible that even if the series is renewed, things could look a bit different next year.

First, however, Castle has its seventh season to finish, and the focus is turning back to those months the title character was MIA. Zap2it has posted a sneak peek from the next episode, “Sleeper,” and Castle has turned to his therapist for help with his dreams. He remembers a man greeting him in a familiar way (but he can’t place him) and helping a man who has been shot, as well as being in a truck and being chased. Just what happened to him in those two months? Watch the promo for the episode below for a quick refresher about the mystery

This is all leading up to the May 11 Castle season 7 finale, “Hollander’s Woods,” for which ABC has released an official description. (Remember, in “Montreal” earlier this season, Hollander’s Woods was revealed to be the site of an event from his childhood and the reason why Castle became a mystery writer.)

“A death in the woods draws Castle back to a terrifying and defining event in his childhood. Investigation leads to obsession, as he attempts to unearth answers that have eluded him for decades, all while Beckett faces a crossroads.”

Beyond that, not much is known about the finale. TVLine has reported that Fringe‘s Lance Reddick and CSI‘s Wallace Langham will both be guest starring, but there are no character details available for either.

Castle season 7 airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
