It’s the moment all Star Wars fans have been waiting for. The new trailer for Star Wars Episode VII has been released! You won’t believe your ears when you first hear the voice of Luke Skywalker. The memories of decades past comes back to life. Your senses will continue to be tingled when your eyes see the opening scene of the trailer as a land speeder cruises past the crashed Imperial Star Destroyer on the plant Jakku.
The Verge reports Luke opens the scene saying, “The force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it. You have that power, too.” Oh, the anticipation of who Luke is talking to!
Director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy revealed the long awaited trailer before a crowded room at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, CA.
Deadline reports that this is the first real taste of Star Wars Episode VII since the 88 second teaser came out last November. And, fans have been salivating at any piece of Star Wars information leaked regarding characters, costumes, set designs, and the list goes on. Even IMDB, which boasts a wealth of movie information, has only a mere sentence regarding the plot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, stating, A continuation of the saga created by George Lucas set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi.
At the Star Wars Celebration where the trailer was unveiled, the audience received another huge surprise when Star Wars Episode VII lead actors Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega walked out on stage to answer questions from the fans.
Isaac took the plot a little deeper than IMDB by revealing he plays an X-Wing fighter pilot “sent on a mission by a certain princess who meets Boyega’s stormtrooper and their fates are forever intertwined,” as reported by Deadline.
Fans are sure to have mixed emotions about seeing the destroyed mask of Darth Vader — the villain that is synonymous with Star Wars. Fans love to hate Darth Vader and revel in his dark side of the force.
But those mixed emotions are sure to turn to pure nostalgia for long time Star Wars fans upon seeing Han Solo’s famous sly grin as he says to his best sidekick, Chewbacca, “Chewy, we’re home.”
Is it possible for fans to hold out 8 more months until the release of Star Wars Episode VII? Unfortunately, we have no choice.
