Jessa Duggar, Ben Seewald Reveal Their Unique Wedding Vows

Jessa Duggar and her husband Ben Seewald did not want to use the traditional wedding vows during their ceremony. Therefore, they created their own very unique vows and have decided to share them with the world on their reality show 19 Kids and Counting.

“One thing that we really wanted was unique vows,” Jessa told E! News. “We wanted something a little more personalized.”

Of course, having a family as large as Jessa’s would make anyone nervous, and Jessa said that was one of her fears before the wedding – being too nervous to read her vows to Ben in front of their 1,000 plus family members and friends.

“I was kind of afraid that I might be nervous reading the vows and get all my words jumbled up,” Jessa said.

During Tuesday night’s episode, viewers finally got to witness Ben and Jessa’s wedding, including their personalized vows.

“Jessa, you are the love of my life. You’re my best friend and I’ve learned so much through your love for me,” Ben told his wife at the alter. “Jessa Lauren, this day I take you to be my loyal wife.”

Jessa and Ben started courting in September 2013, and were married in Bentonville, Arkansas, in November 2014. The Duggar family has always had strict rules when it came to dating. Rather than use the term “dating,” they refer to it as “courting.” While courting, there is no holding hands, and only “side hugs” are allowed. Therefore, like her older sister Jill, Jessa decided to save her first kiss for marriage. However, she didn’t take the same approach most people do when the preacher says “You may kiss your bride.”

Rather than sharing their first kiss in front of thousands of people, Jessa and Ben decided to make the moment more intimate and shared their kiss in private.

“I didn’t know until a couple of days before,” Jim Bob Duggar said in the clip of Tuesday’s episode. “They said we really wanted it to be an intimate kiss and we don’t really want to do it in front of everybody. That really highlighted how important it was that they waited.”

In other Duggar news, Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Israel David Dillard, last week. Although Jill’s delivery didn’t go the way she planned, she said she wouldn’t change a thing.

“His birth didn’t go as expected,” Jill said. “But having him here—it’s all worth it. I wouldn’t do anything differently.”
