‘New Girl’s Max Greenfield Wants To Be In The Next ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Movie
The Fifty Shades of Grey film franchise is creating buzz once again from rumors about who might be starring in the sequel. Cara Delevingne is reportedly on the shortlist to star in the follow-up to the blockbuster hit, but there’s an unexpected star who has voiced interest in being the next Fifty Shades of Grey cast member.
According to Us Magazine, New Girl funny man Max Greenfield claims he would love to be in the next installment of the franchise.
“Are there any major blockbusters that I’d want to join? You know, I’m just looking to get into that Fifty Shades of Grey. Maybe I could be the 51st Shade? I don’t know, that’s definitely a move I’m looking to make.”
Even though Greenfield is best known for his comedy chops, he seems interested in tapping into his inner sexiness. After all, he did play the young version of Sandy Cohen on The O.C.
“The heat that I gave off from a young Sandy Cohen is the kind of heat that I would bring to a 51st Shade of Grey,” Greenfield said.
It might seem like Max Greenfield is only joking about taking part in the Fifty Shades universe, but he’s brought it up several times already. The New Girl star also spoke to Celebuzz about how starring in Fifty Shades of Grey would be the role of a lifetime for him.
“I want to audition for the movie,” he said. “I think I’d be great in it!”
In fact, Greenfield believes his experience doing comedy characters could bring a much-needed quality to the films.
“Look, when I read the book, I thought, ‘What a comedy!’ I think maybe I can bring a little bit of validity to the situation. Sometimes, you try to figure out life and what it all means, and maybe I only got this ‘New Girl’ job so that I would be enough of a commodity to get the role of Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey. I’d probably retire after I did that because I think my performance would be just spot-on.”
When asked if he could handle the sultry scenes of the Fifty Shades of Grey story, Greenfield ensured that the real requirement is acting ability, not how good you look naked.
“I don’t even think it’s a shirtless thing,” said the actor. “I think it’s more of a raw intensity thing. Obviously, I’m the man for the job.”
It may not be entirely difficult to imagine Schmidt from New Girl in the movies when you consider some of the strange casting choices that were almost made for Fifty Shades of Grey, including the star of Sons of Anarchy and Clint Eastwood’s son.
