Wanna Keep Scruffy Around Forever? Freeze-Dried Pet Processing Gains In Popularity

Taxidermists are no longer simply relying on the age old practice of stuffing dead animals, now they are able to keep little scruffy looking brand new by freeze-drying them in a complex process.

According to one taxidermist in an interview with LiveScience:

“What we hear from pet owners is that they’re so attached to their pet, they just can’t stand to bury their pet or they don’t want to cremate it.”

Thae taxidermist continues:

“It’s just too precious to them.”

To complete the entire process a Taxidermist must start by replacing the pets internal organs and fat with artificial fillers, next they insert false eyes into the sockets. Even if an animals eyes will be closed false eyes must be inserted to prevent a sunken look. Next a freeze-drying chamber lowers the air pressure until ice becomes gas without turning into a liquid.

The process leaves owners with a freeze-dried pet much like the one pictured above and in some cases those owners are then buried side-by-side with their beloved friend.

If you think freeze-dried pet storage is for you just be aware that it can cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars to have performed.

Would you be willing to spend thousands of dollars to have your furry little friend freeze-dried?
