North West Baptized At One Of The World’s Oldest Churches, Kim And Kanye Have Dinner With Mayor Of Jerusalem

North West has been baptized after Kim and Kanye paid a visit to one of the world’s oldest churches, part of a surprise trip to Jerusalem that included dinner with the mayor.

The celebrity couple took their only daughter to the Cathedral of St. James in the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, a site more than 1,600 years old.

“They flew [into Jerusalem] especially for [the baptism],” a close family source told People magazine. “They knew it was close to Armenia and it was always a dream to come to Jerusalem. There’s an Armenian quarter and they did it at this old beautiful church. It was epic. So beautiful.”

Having North West baptized wasn’t the only reason for the trip. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West also met with Nir Barkat, the mayor of Jerusalem. Barkat said he asked the couple “to be ambassadors of Jerusalem and to spread the message around the world that Jerusalem is open and everyone is wanted here.”

“We raised a toast to Jerusalem,” Barkat told the Jerusalem Post of the dinner with Kim and Kanye.

The trip is part of a cultural awakening for Kim Kardashian. While she is not overtly religious, she has a strong connection to her Armenian heritage. Kim also paid a visit to Armenia to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

The trip included a visit to the Armenian capital of Yerevan, where Kanye gave a free concert that was cut short when he decided to jump into a lake. Kanye was mobbed by fans, and the concert could no longer go on.

Kim shared some details of the surprise concert.

“Crazy night! Kanye wakes me up & says he’s doing a free concert in Yerevan, Armenia! I throw on sweats & we go!” Kardashian tweeted, adding, “Thousands of people were there! Kanye jumped in swan lake to be closer to the crowd on the other side & so many people jumped in too!”

After North West was baptized, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West moved quickly to their next destination. The couple was expected to leave Jerusalem on Tuesday morning, heading to Jordan.

Fans hoping to catch a glimpse of North West being baptized will be in luck. Cameras followed the couple during the trip, which will be featured in an upcoming episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
