Reba McEntire Mentors ‘The Voice’ Top 12 Tonight

Reba McEntire is celebrating her first new album in five years – “Love Somebody,” which releases tomorrow. She’ll be making several promotional appearances this week, starting with The Voice tonight, where she will serve as a mentor to the top 12.

Contestant Corey Kent White – and fellow Okie – described working with Reba and Blake Shelton to Tulsa World, as a night he will never forget.

“I’m the only Okie and the only country music artist in the competition. For the first time, even with the cameras, I felt like it was me and Blake and Reba, just three people hanging out and working on a song to try to make it the best it could be. I hope Reba feels the same way.”

He went on to say, the two country superstars made him feel so comfortable, it was like being with family. When he expressed that to his mentors, Reba told him to just call her “Aunt Reba” and Blake agreed he was welcome to call him “Uncle Blake.”

With Reba’s warm, down-home personality, Corey probably wasn’t the only Voice hopeful to feel at ease in her presence. We’ll find out tonight what words of wisdom she had to share with each contestant. Her appearance on The Voice won’t be her first experience with TV talent shows. When Kelly Clarkson was competing American Idol, she made it clear who her idol was – Reba. That led to a duet, a tour together, and an everlasting bond between the two. Now, Clarkson truly does get to call McEntire family, since marrying her stepson, Brandon Blackstock in 2012. When Andy Cohen recently asked the new mom what it was like having Reba McEntire as her mother-in-law, she said it’s like a dream.

“Well, you know, she’s just one of my heroes. I’m like the ultimate fan dream!”

The “Going Out Like That Singer” celebrated her 60th birthday March 28, but obviously isn’t slowing down. In addition to a new album, a clothing line, and her Outnumber Hunger campaign – she’s launching a new makeup line called Reba Beauty. The beauty brand is a collaboration between her and her longtime makeup artist, Brett Freedman. Their first product is the Deluxstick lipcolor in a shade of garnet red appropriately named, Fancy.
