Wayne Community College Shooting: One Dead In North Carolina [Breaking News]


Wayne Community College in North Carolina is on lockdown after shots were fired on campus. One person has been killed in the Wayne Community College shooting, according to local breaking news reports. The suspected shooter remains on the loose. The college is located in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

“This is not a drill. The entire campus is under lockdown,” an alert on the Wayne Community College website said. The school shooting occurred in the library of the Goldsboro, North Carolina college, according to WTVD-TV News. The town is located approximately 53 miles southeast of Raleigh.

Goldsboro Fire Marshal Brian Taylor told the media that North Carolina police are treating the Wayne Community College shooting as an “active shooter situation” and are searching for a suspect described as a 5’11” white male with a tattoo over his left eye and a goatee who was wearing a blue jacket and white-colored pants.

No details have yet been released about the identity or description of the Wayne Community College shooting victim. “There is a pretty heavy law enforcement presence right now on campus, not just county but also state police” Fire Chief Taylor added. “They are going through each and every building on campus and then each and every room in every building.”

Wayne Community College students posted photos on social media websites that appear to indicate they are holed inside in some buildings on the North Carolina campus. Photos from the scene show SWAT team members and heavily armed police officers searching for the shooter.
