Video surveillance from a gas station in Philadelphia shows a homeless veteran being beat by a mob. The beating took place after a 10-year-old boy told his mother the homeless man had hit him after they scuffled over who was going to pump gas for patrons for change. However, when the mother approached the gas station owner, he pulled up video footage from the day and found no evidence that the homeless war veteran had ever hit the boy. The mother didn’t need evidence, instead she took her son’s word and assembled a mob to beat the man mercilessly until he is almost dead.
In the video, you see a group pull up to the gas station in a minivan. As the mob pours out of the van they are carrying mace, a hammer and a rocking chair leg to use as a weapon against the defenseless homeless man. Philly reports that the boy’s mother, 34-year-old Aleathea Gillard, is present along with a close family friend, 24-year-old Shareena Joachim who are the only two suspects to currently be identified. The Philadelphia Police are still trying to identify the other suspects in the video, including two juveniles that can be seen stomping on the man’s head.
After the brutal attack, the women can be seen dragging the 10-year-old boy who had claimed the man hit him out of the van by his jacket. They show him what they did to the man and go back to the van and drive away.
The homeless veteran was near death when he arrived at the hospital and is currently in a medically induced coma.
