Sammy Davis Jr.’s Widow Altovise Davis Dies

Altovise Davis, the widow of music legend Sammy Davis Jr. has died aged 65.

Altovise Davis was an accomplished performer and singer, who met Sammy Davis Jr. on Broadway when they performed together in Golden Boy in 1967. The pair wed in 1970 (it was Sammy Davis Jr.’s third marriage) and the pair remained together until Sammy died of throat cancer in 1990.

Davis died Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after suffering a stroke, a family spokesman said. A private memorial service was being planned.

She is survived by her adopted son Manny Davis.
